UPDATE: Our school profiles project has been suspended.

ScoopOnSchools is slowly rolling out profiles of the wide variety of school options available to Portlanders.  Because we’re a small volunteer team, we need your help!  We’ve created a simple form online where those in the know can share their views – anonymously – on a school with which they have experience.

We are hoping to gather input from enough folks to paint a balanced view of a school’s strengths (“The Scoop Half-Full”) and where it could use improvement (“The Scoop Half-Empty”).  These profiles are meant to give a snapshot of the school, as a starting point for further research – but they’re not meant to take the place of a parent’s own process of touring & investigating. When we get enough input from parent responses and our own research, we’ll write up a profile to post to the site.  To get an idea of how deep we’re delving, see an example here and another here. (All profiles then allow for comments from readers.)

So, please help us build the profiles and/or pass this along to anyone you think might be willing to share insight on a local school.  The form is very simple, and asks for a few of the school’s strong points and a few things that could use improving.  And if you’d rather not write up a profile, but you still want to help, just email us & we can figure out another way to get the scoop from you.

We hope that by doing all this collective work we’re empowering parents to engage in Portland’s educational community and make a difference for our kids!
